The last time I flew across the Atlantic, my Detroit flight was delayed enough that I missed the once-a-day flight from Amsterdam to Istanbul and, therefore, the first day of my guided tour. So to keep Murphy from rearing his ugly head, I added a “nothing” day to make up for potentially missing my once-a-day flight from Amsterdam to Nairobi. And if I arrived on time, how would I make use of that extra day? A spa day and afternoon tea at Nairobi’s landmark five-star luxury hotel–the Villa Rosa Kempinski.
It didn’t disappoint! The staff were lovely. The hotel is elegant. The landscaping was to die for. The spa was well-appointed and the height of relaxation. The afternoon tea was perfect. (Side note: Rachel and I, sisters separated for most of our lives and completely unaware of one another until 2019, both adore afternoon tea and always make sure to find one in every city we travel to! So it was the perfect activity for us!)
